Since Hurricanes Laura and Delta devastated our campus and the homes of so many throughout Southwest Louisiana, we have been working as quickly as possible to remediate our facilities, repair damages and rebuild in order to allow you to return home to YOUR McNeese campus.
As you know, our beautiful campus has taken quite a blow. Laura’s destructive 150+ mph winds and Delta’s torrential rains damaged every facility on our main campus. But it is during challenging times like these that a community’s resilient spirit is on full display. We see it every day in our students, in our faculty and staff and throughout our community, and we are focused on mirroring that same determination as we rebuild.
We have undertaken the momentous task of completing damage assessments for more than two million square feet of campus facilities in a matter of two weeks, supported by some of our state’s leading disaster response, architectural and engineering experts. We are rising to the challenge that faces us and moving with speed and efficiency as we progress through the various phases of our campus recovery – from assessing damages and creating architectural and engineering plans to completing construction and reopening facilities.
Our schedule is aggressive, but necessarily so. We know how important it is for you to be back in a learning environment where you can thrive.
That is why we are working to have students back on campus for the Spring 2021 semester. We are prioritizing our residence halls and instructional buildings to prepare for your safe return, so we can get back to the academic excellence and the vibrant university life and community that McNeese delivers.
Throughout all our recovery efforts, we are focused on accurate, ongoing and transparent communications involving our progress and path forward as a campus and university. Refer back to this website often for updates, track our progress on social media, or reach out at any time by emailing email@example.com.
Our goal is to return our students and faculty to our campus as quickly and safely as possible. In a few short months, we will be able to welcome you back home with open arms. Soon, it will be time to come home, cowboys. We look forward to seeing you then.
